If you've never visited a medical aesthetics clinic before, it's completely normal to wonder what happens during a consultation.
Many people also assume they need to book a treatment before they can speak to a practitioner, but that's not the case at MEDICA Clinic.
Our consultations can be booked as a standalone appointment, with absolutely no pressure and no obligation to go ahead with any treatment afterwards.
Whether you're looking for professional skincare advice, want to understand your skin better or are exploring your treatment options, we're here to give you honest advice and all the information you need to make an informed decision.
Here's a STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE to what our consultations look like, so you know exactly what to expect when you visit MEDICA.
STEP 1: BOOKING A CONSULTATION
Booking your consultation is quick and easy. Whether you're arranging a consultation or booking a treatment, you can get in touch in whichever way below is most convenient for you:
Once we receive your enquiry, a member of our team will help you find a convenient appointment time and answer any questions you may have before your visit.
STEP 2: WELCOMING YOU IN ON YOUR APPOINTMENT DAY
On the day of your appointment, you'll find free on-site parking conveniently located right in front of the clinic if you're travelling by car.
We'll then welcome you into the clinic, check you in and give you a chance to settle before your appointment begins. If you'd like, you're welcome to enjoy a cup of tea, coffee or another drink while we prepare for your consultation.
We know visiting an aesthetics clinic can feel a little daunting especially for first-timers, so we aim to create a calm, friendly environment from the very beginning.
STEP 3: ADVANCED SKIN ANALYSIS
Next, we'll carry out a comprehensive skin analysis using our OBSERV 520x skin scanner. This advanced imaging system captures your skin from 5 different facial angles using 8 specialised imaging modes and 10 different light settings.
It allows us to see far more than what's visible to the naked eye, helping us identify concerns such as pigmentation, redness, dehydration, congestion, skin texture, sun damage and early signs of ageing.
STEP 4: REVIEWING YOUR SKIN SCAN RESULTS
Once your scan is complete, we'll sit down together and go through the scanned images in detail. We'll explain exactly what we're seeing, what is happening to your skin and how it relates to your concerns. Understanding your skin is an important part of making informed decisions, so we'll answer any questions you have and explain everything in straightforward, easy-to-understand language.
STEP 5: DISCUSSING YOUR SKIN CONCERNS AND GOALS
Everyone's skin is different, so we take the time to understand what's brought you to the clinic and what you'd like to achieve. You may already have concerns such as acne, pigmentation, redness or fine lines. Using your skin scan results, we'll explain what's causing these concerns and discuss the best way to address them. We'll also talk about your aesthetic goals so we can recommend treatments that are personalised, realistic and aligned with your expectations.
STEP 6: REVIEWING YOUR MEDICAL HISTORY
As medical nurses, one part of the consultation we spend the most time on is reviewing your medical history. Your safety always comes first, so we'll discuss any medical conditions, allergies, previous treatments and current medications. Some medications are incompatible with certain treatments and some underlying health conditions may mean you're not suitable for specific procedures. So this is a detailed conversation that helps us ensure every recommendation is safe, appropriate and tailored to your individual needs.
STEP 7: PERSONALISED TREATMENT PLAN
Once we've assessed your skin, discussed your goals and reviewed your medical history, we'll recommend the treatments that are most suitable for you. Our recommendations are completely personalised and not a one-size-fits-all approach. Sometimes one treatment may be enough, while in other cases a combination of treatments will provide the best long-term results.
Sometimes, the treatment we recommend may not be the one you had in mind when you first walked through our doors. While our advice may differ from your initial expectations, you can rest assured that we don't recommend treatments because they're popular or profitable, we recommend them because we genuinely believe they're the right option for you.
We'll then put together a bespoke treatment plan outlining your recommended treatments, the number of sessions or courses required where applicable, the order they'll be carried out, expected timelines and any recovery or downtime involved. This roadmap gives you a clear understanding of what your treatment journey will look like and when you can realistically expect to see results.
STEP 8: ASSESSING RISKS AND CONTRADICTIONS
Once we've determined which treatment or treatments are most suitable for you, we'll carefully assess whether there are any risks or contraindications associated with them. We'll also explain any potential side effects, expected downtime and recovery time, so you have a clear understanding of what to expect before making your decision.
STEP 9: TRANSPARENT PRICING
We believe there should never be any surprises when it comes to the cost of your treatment. We'll provide clear, transparent pricing for all recommended treatments and packages, so you know exactly what to expect and can plan your budget with confidence.
STEP 10: BOOK YOU IN FOR A TREATMENT IF YOU WISH TO
If you're ready to begin your treatment journey after the consultation, we'll then help you book your appointments and answer any final questions you may have.
However, if you'd prefer to take some time to think things over, that's absolutely fine, too. There's never any pressure to proceed with treatment after your consultation. Our role is simply to provide expert advice, honest recommendations and the information you need to make the right decision for yourself.
🔍 HOW LONG DOES OUR CONSULTATION TAKE?
Because we take the time to thoroughly guide you through each step of the consultation, appointments at MEDICA typically last around 1 hour. This gives us enough time to assess your skin, answer your questions and ensure you leave feeling informed, never rushed.
🔍 HOW MUCH DOES A CONSULTATION COST?
A consultation at MEDICA costs £50, which covers the dedicated time we spend carrying out your comprehensive assessment and providing personalised recommendations. Should you decide to proceed with treatment afterwards, the full consultation fee is redeemable against your treatment.
🔍 THE DECISION IS ENTIRELY YOURS
Throughout your consultation, you'll never be pressured into booking a treatment. We believe our role is to educate, not persuade. Some people choose to begin treatment straight away, while others simply want expert advice, a professional skin assessment or a clearer understanding of their options. Whatever you decide, we'll respect your decision. Our goal is to help you make an informed choice that's right for you.
