At MEDICA, we invest in technology that we believe will deliver the safest and most effective results for our patients. Every device is carefully selected based on clinical evidence, treatment consistency and long term performance, rather than following aesthetic trends.
For laser tattoo removal, we currently use the NanoSure Q-Switched laser system by 3D Aesthetics, a high specification laser platform that combines modern dual wavelength design with trusted Q-Switched Nd:YAG technology.
While newer technologies such as Pico laser systems have advanced the field further in recent years, Q-Switched laser technology remains a clinically proven treatment that continues to deliver excellent results for many patients. Its long-standing clinical track record and dependable performance make it a trusted choice in modern aesthetic medicine.
Q-Switched laser technology works by delivering extremely short bursts of high intensity light energy measured in nanoseconds. Unlike conventional lasers that emit a continuous beam of light, Q-Switched lasers release energy in rapid, powerful pulses lasting only a few billionths of a second. This allows the laser to precisely target pigment particles while minimising impact on the surrounding skin tissue.
For this very reason, Q-Switched laser treatments offer several benefits.
1. Shorter treatment session time
Treatment sessions are typically quick because the laser delivers high intensity energy in very short, controlled pulses. This efficient delivery helps us to treat targeted areas effectively within a relatively short appointment time, making the treatment convenient for patients with busy schedules.
2. Precision control
The technology also provides excellent precision and control. The laser is specifically designed to target pigment particles rather than surrounding skin tissue. This selective targeting is based on the principle of selective photothermolysis, which allows the laser energy to be absorbed primarily by the pigment being treated, supporting accurate and controlled treatment outcomes.
3. Minimal downtime
Because the energy is delivered in ultra-short bursts rather than as a continuous beam, there is less heat transfer to surrounding tissue. This helps reduce skin trauma and supports a more comfortable recovery period, with most patients experiencing only mild redness or swelling that typically settles quickly.
3D NanoSure Q-Switched laser system
Our 3D NanoSure system uses dual wavelength Q-Switched laser technology to safely and effectively treat unwanted dark and multi-coloured tattoos without scarring. The system is capable of removing up to 95% of many tattoos when treatment is carried out over a planned course of sessions. It is also suitable for skin types 1 to 5, can treat most areas of the body and offers precision application through adjustable spot sizing. Patients often begin to see visible improvements after just one treatment, with results gradually improving throughout the treatment course.
Beyond tattoo removal, the 3D NanoSure Q-Switched laser can also be used to treat a range of pigmentation concerns. These include unwanted brown spots, sun freckles, birthmarks and certain benign pigmented lesions, helping patients achieve a clearer and more even skin tone.
